Consistency in running is absolutely necessary if you want to run to your potential. Running at 90% of your ability for a few weeks, followed by running at 99% of your ability for a few weeks, then a week of recovery is an example used by some running coaches. It is used, not because it is a complex program, but it is a simple program that forces consistency. Find a training plan and stick with it. Everyone trains differently so don’t get caught up finding the best plan. Find the best plan for you and be consistent. The way I train is not the way I train everyone else. Training should be fun and challenging so you look forward to doing it every day. If you are not having fun you will not stay consistent and you will fall short of becoming the best you can be. Consistency is not a sexy concept but should be the hallmark of your training plan.
